TÁZACÍ DOVĚTKY           pro hovorovou angličtinu jsou běžné      x       nepoužívají se v písemném projevu   

Jde o krátkou otázku připojenou za větou s významem ...,že ano?/ ...,že ne?

Intonace může být stoupavá i klesavá.

Stoupavá intonace naznačuje, že mluvčí není o platnosti svého sdělení přesvědčen a nevylučuje jeho popření. Tázacím dovětkem má pak význam "Is that right?" nebo "Do you agree?"

Klesavá intonace naznačuje, že mluvčí čeká jen potvrzení svého sdělení a nepočítá s popřením jeho platnosti . Tázacím dovětkem vyjadřuje "Well" nebo "We both know."

PRAVIDLA TVOŘENÍ "QUESTION TAGS"

A) podmět věty zůstává, jen je v dovětku vždy vyjádřen příslušným zájmenem

B) pokud je hlavní věta kladná dovětek bude záporný

kladná věta                                         záporný dovětek

Snow is white,                                             isn't it?

C) pokud je hlavní věta záporná dovětek bude kladný

záporná věta                                      kladný dovětek

You don't like me,                                     do you?

K tvoření dovětků se používají slovesa následovně

1) sloveso to be ´= být

He is rich,                       isn´t he?

They are not Irish,         are they?

I am your sweetheart,   aren´t I?

You were in London last year,          weren't you?

Lucy was very unhappy yesterday,   wasn't she?

2) to have got = mít

They have got a new car,              haven´t they?

She has got a son,                         hasn´t she.

POZOR!!

She has got a son, hasn´t she.    x     She has a son, doesn´t she.

3) v ostatních případech používáme pomocná slovesa a modální slovesa

do/does/did - přítomný a minulý čas prostý

You go to school every day,          don't you?

He doesn't get up early,               does he?

Peggy didn't learn yesterday,       did she?

You visited Prague last week,      didn't you?

is/are/am/was/were - přítomný a minulý čas průběhový

Bobby isn't watching TV,                is he?

You are not leaving tonight,         are you?

I am studying to be clever,           aren´t I?

She was waiting for you,               wasn´t she?

They were meeting,                      weren´t they?

have/has/had - předpřítomný a předminulý čas

I have bought a new coat,            haven't I?

She has just arrived,                     hasn´t she?

He had bought it,                         hadn´t he?

will/would

You will not tell anyone,              will you?

He would tell me,                        wouldn´t he?

can/could/should

She can swim well,                     can´t she?

She could help him,                   couldn´t she?

She should be over 50,              shouldn´t she?

u ostatních modálních sloves se tvoření dovětků s opakujícím se slovesem raději vyhněte, např.

must

It must be her car, isn't it?

It must be her car, right?

You must be tired, aren't you?

Moc se totiž v dovětcích nepoužívají a jejich používání se vyhne i rodilý mluvčí, protože jde o komplikovanou gramatiku.

4) Rozkazovací způsob                                                                                                                                      - zde je tvoření dovětku použito pro zmírnění či zdůraznění obsahu sdělení.

Write me soon!       Write me soon, will you?

Close the door?     Close the door, would you?

Pozor na volbu slovesa v dovětku u rozkazu, buď můžete jeho význam měnit na zdvořilou žádost 

Close the door, would you?, Help me , can you?

nebo naopak podtrhnout rozkaz vyjádřením podrážděnosti 

Do it now, will you?,  Help me, can´t you?
